Broken Hips, Bloopers,and Puppies

We have had a very busy week and the Smith household. We started the week off by going to church on sunday. JD spit up on me in front of Anna (which made her gag) and I had to take him out of church. He hasn't spit up since he was 6 mo. Well we have a little room called the hearth room outside the sanctuary. It has a couch, fireplace, and some toys for the kids. We frequent it alot because JD screams his head off in the nursery and they always page me to come get him, and he dosen't want to sit still w/ us either! Well, we were playing in there and he ran out and I followed him. He ran back in and slammed the door in my face!! As I was reaching for the door, I thought ha ha wouldn't it be funny if the door locked. IT WAS!!!! JD locked himself in there! I went to go get someone to unlock it. It finally took about four people and three sets of keys. The whole time I could hear him laughing and playing thank goodness.

After we went to church we went to Little Mama's house to eat. We walked in and she had been on the phone with Kim. Kim was supposed to come see us the next day. Kim has fallen off a ladder and dislocated her hip!! She said she has popped her hip back in place (OUCH!!) and was ok and she was still coming. Well the next day she came and was getting around ok so we called Anna to come over and check her out. She said that Kim really needed to go to the Dr. and get checked out. Well she did and found out she fractured her hip and will probably have to have surgery!!!

When Anna and Chris came to see Kim she brought a suprise. They had found a puppy on the side of the road. Well, you know what happened Lexie fell in love with it and we ended up keeping it. I think they had that planned! The kids have had so much fun with him and he really is a good puppy. He has really kept Lexie entertained. His name changes everyday. It started out as Spot and right now it is B Dog ( that is from the movie Air Buddies).

JD has been really funny this week. He is starting to pretend play. He made me sit at the table with him and he pretended to eat. He would go yum, yum, yum. Also, he is starting to say 1,2,3 Go and will start running. He also walked behind Kim imitating her limp! Very funny!!

Long time no blog!

Wow I can't believe it has been since may 2nd since I blogged last. We all have been doing good. JD is really learning how to hit golf balls and dosen't go anywhere w/o his clubs. He hits it left handed though so my dad got him some lefty clubs! He is saying so much these days. We play hide and go seek with Lexie and I'll say "Where's Lexie?" and he'll answer "There she is".
They have had a great time swimming this year and Lexie is swimming like a fish!! I don't know what i am going to do with her all summer because she misses school and her friends. It is hard for me to entertain all the time.
My wonderful husband suprised me today. He had called his mom to babysit and loaded up the 4-wheeler and wanted to take me riding. We haven't done that in a very long time. That has many memories for us because that is what we did on our first date!! Then he took me out to eat!! Wow! I don' ever get that much time. The kids had a great time and Mamaw enjoyed them too. She dosen't get to keep them much.

Golf Ball

This is JD's new favorite thing to say. He loves to play golf. Actually he loves any kind of ball. The other day he played golf with Chad and Papa D. He knew just what to do he took his ball and walked over to the hole and threw it in!

Soccer

Lexie is doing great in soccer this year. She seems to really like it too. The other day she was playing and the little boy right beside her pulled his pants down and started peeing right there in the middle of the game!! That is all she could talk about for the rest of the night. She said I kept telling him, "NO, NO!"

Luau

For years every once in awhile we will have a party at Granny's with all the ladies that take care of her. We do it because we like to get together and those ladies can cook and also Granny always loved parties! We had a Luau this time and it was fun.

Lexie has also started soccer. She is doing really well this year. She scored a goal in her first game! Last year she had no idea where the ball was and would even sit down in the field and pick grass. JD also loves going to the games but he wants to play too. He ran on the field and almost got tackled by a group of 4 year olds.

JD is constantly talking about balls. He wakes up in the morning talking about them and goes to sleep talking about them. His favorite is golf and basketball. He has a golf club in his hand almost constantly.

Katie me and chad are jealous of your trip to Vegas. We went a couple of years ago and had so much fun!! We wished we were there too!

Here are some Luau pictures and some other random ones that were on mama's camera.

Where did March Go?

I can't believe it has been this long since I blogged. We have had a busy March. Lexie had spring break for two weeks and me and Papa D had our birthdays. I actually had to sit down and figure out how old I was. I lost a year somewhere! We spent several days in Nashville with Mimi and came home with the stomach bug! Lexie had it, then JD, then Chad, and Papa D!! As several of you know I am a pukeaphobic but I have learned that being a mother means seeing lots of it sometimes! I think I am overcoming it! But I was sure tired of washing sheets because when kids get it it seems to happen in the middle of the night.
We got well and we had a visitor from New York, Patty. She was the nanny for the NY kids and has been there almost as long as I can remember. To us she is family and we love her! My kids warmed up to her quickly and we took her to see the Mississippi River, the Casino at Carruthersville, Chic, and Reelfoot lake. We had a great time and didn't want to see her go. We are now back to our normal schedule and I will post some pictures.

Future Cowboy

JD has started trying on everyone's shoes. Today he chose my boots. It was so funny he couldn't move! I also caught him in Lexie's room kissing on her baby doll! We had to have a long talk about that one.

This weekend the coon club had kids day and a coon supper. Lexie got to show a dog in the bench show and won a trophy. She had the best time! Chad did alot of work getting everything together and it turned out great. The kids loved it. We also had alot of people for the supper too and lots of desserts.

Next verse, same as the first

It is amazing to see JD doing the same things that Lexie did at that age. It brings back tons of memories. Here are two pictures to show you. They are Lexie and JD in my shoes at about the same ages

Makeover

Today we had a makeover party at Little Mama's house. Lexie put on her makeup and JD got his hair done! JD also loves to brush his teeth. He will cry if anyone brushes theirs and he doesn't get to. Right now he is at the window yelling "D! Hey!" and waving because he sees Papa D playing golf. He will actually yell this at any golfer he sees. We are ready for sunshine and warmer weather because we all have cabin fever and JD will fight you to get outside.

Naked Baby Alert

JD's favorite game now is running away from me after I get his diaper off and before I can put another one on or right after his bath. He thinks it is the funniest thing to run away naked! And boy can he scoot! He is moving really fast these days he is almost running. My dad says when he is running naked he looks like Charlie Chaplin. He is also really into dancing if any song comes on he will stop mid track and dance. He also does the movements to The Wheels on the Bus and If Your Happy and You Know It. I think he is going to be a little musician. Well, I take that back he might be an explorer because he is all over the house all the time. He has recently discovered climbing and (hold on he found a old cheese puff on the floor and is eating it, yuck!) he climbed on top of the kids' table the other day and stood up and raised his hands up! We also have a baby gate on our stairs but one of our spindles is missing and he has figured how to climb through. This is why I haven't blogged lately. I am constantly getting him out of trouble!!

Another reason I haven't blogged is because Lexie has been playing on the computer. She goes to nick jr and the pbs website and plays their games. She can get on the computer herself!! Everytime she sees me try to get on the computer she says can I play? She is also learning her letters and learning to spell. She has been able to spell her name for a while but she is learning other things too. Her favorite is NO. She will tell JD N..O.. that means NO!! Then he will try to bite her!! Ah sibling rivalry. Katie you have something to look forward to as you well know little brothers are always terrorizing their big sisters and they start right away!

Happy Birthday Lexie

Our little girl turned 4 yesterday! WOW! We had a big birthday party yesterday for her and JD complete with jumpy things. They got so many toys that it seems like christmas all over again.
Today I went to her class and brought cupcakes. I just cannot believe she is four. It seems like yesterday she was a baby. I will post pictures when I get them from mama since I forgot my camera and she took all the pictures.

JD at One Year Old

Well JD is now officially over the chicken pox and we can resume normal life and go out in public. I would like to document his accomplishments at a year.

As you all know he started his little life out with a bang. Hospitalized at 4 days old for Jaundice, very high levels of jaundice, they went about trying to figure out why they were so high. Which they discovered was a MRSA urinary tract infection. We had no idea what that meant because only this year have they had all the news coverage of it. Well we found out. He went through so much two spinal taps, so many heel pricks that there was no room to do it, iv medication for 10 days. He was a trooper through all of this and thrived.

Then when we got home we discovered the spots on him and back to the hospital we went. Vandy this time. We stayed there for a week and no one could tell us what this was. I now know we didn't need to be there and it was my own terror that put us there. But how can you rationalize with a new mother and her hormones. We were sent home I was put on medication for PPD and anxiety which helped alot!!

Finally we found out that JD has a very rare skin disorder called Mastocytosis. So rare in fact that 10 doctors at one of the best hospitals in the country could not tell us what it was. His own ped had never seen it. Finally a dermatologist took one look at him and said this is what it is and it is no big deal! WHAT!! But we have found out that it is not a big deal and he is already starting to outgrow it..

He has turned out to be a very curious, adventurous boy. He loves to explore the house, cabinets, potties, anything. He works hard at figuring out things and he loves to punch buttons. He also loves to climb the stairs and climb into the shower.

He can say uh oh, dog, mama, dada, lilly, ball, D (as in Papa D), and tries to say lexie. He loves to yell hey.

He loves going outside and I wish it was warmer because he cries if he has to go in. He absolutely loves his big sister and wants to do everything she does and has to have everything she has. If she has one sippy cup he has to have the same one.

He also loves to chew on toothbrushes. Not new ones old ones that have just been used with a little bit of toothpaste leftover! He is also running all over the house and getting into everything. We are so blessed!!!

Happy 1st Birthday JD

Well our little man is officially one. Wow! It seems like yesterday we were waiting on him. We had his mini party last night with just us because we are quarantined. I was planning on having his party with Lexie's anyway since they are so close. Today on his birthday we took our puppy to chic and let him run through the woods. He also got to sit in one of the big tractors which made him happy. Here are some pictures of last night

Spots, Spots, Spots

JD woke up with quite a few more spots this morning but still seems to be in good spirits. He itched in his sleep last night though. Here is a picture of the pretty speckled pup!

I would also like to document that last year on this day we were headed to the hospital because I was in labor!

CHICKEN POX!

Yes, JD has the chicken pox!! Actually it doesn't come as a surprise because my mom has shingles and you can catch chicken pox from people who have them. I have been waiting to see if the kids would get them and this morning sure enough JD does. He is doing fine they don't seem to bother him. Now to see if the vaccine really works with Lexie!

Oh a little tidbit of info I read... The chicken pox are so contagious that you can be in Wal-mart and catch them from someone who has them on the next isle over!!
